One of the best tips for eating moderately especially when you’re a “feaster” type eater, in other words, when you eat large amounts of food that is way MORE than enough for you, is to TRAIN yourself to reduce the amount of food you eat gradually.

Little did she know I was actually NOT a BIG eater. In fact, No-one is.
We were ALL born to eat moderately and enough for our bodies.
NO-ONE is born to overeat.
You’d only have to try and FORCE feed a baby and the baby would move her head away or as my daughter did when she was a baby, she’d throw the bottle on the floor lol!
So why was I eating HUMONGOUS portions? Well, I was just following years of HABIT!
I’ve spoken A LOT about HABITS in relation to food in my previous posts (do a search on the word “habit” in my posts), and the ONLY reason we do anything in our lives, even binge eating, is because of HABIT.
The Tortiose Wins The Race (slowly but surely)
One of the things that helped me overcome over 22 years of binge eating or eating humongous portions was to GRADUALLY eat less.
But I did it in a way that was barely noticeable to begin with so that my mind and body didn’t go into SHOCK or experience any feelings of being DEPRIVED.
And that was to start leaving ONE mouthful at a time on my plate.
Then I’d do that for a few days or until I got used to it.
Then I’d up that by TWO mouthfuls. Then I’d do that for a few days or until THAT became effortless.
Then I’d GRADUALLY increase the number of mouthfuls I’d leave on my plate.
This eating hack could be used for anything; a sandwich, a bag of crisps, a bag of sweets, or an ice-cream.
While at the same time, REMINDING myself that once the food was served, that it was ALREADY wasted.
And I was CHOOSING to put the waste in the garbage bin and NOT use my body as a garbage bin.
You’ll be amazed how EMPOWERING this technique is.
IF you practice this eating hack enough times, where you’ve reduced your portions enough to move to a smaller plate, do so. Be warned, too much white space on your plate is enough to TRIGGER your mind you’re not eating enough, which may cause a relapse to BINGE.
The mind doesn’t like feeling DEPRIVED!
Your Brain Is Always Listening
And remember the way you speak to yourself MATTERS! The mind is ALWAYS listening. Make your recovery journey easier by choosing your words like:
“I’m LOVING eating moderately”
“I’m CHOOSING to eat foods that nourish me”
“I LOVE looking after my body”
“I ENJOY eating what’s good for my body”
“I’m choosing to STOP eating before I feel too full”
“I am eating for the body and health that I REALLY want and deserve”
