You Know What They Say? You Don’t Know, What You Don’t Know Right?
Which basically means that IF you don’t know why you’re finding it difficult to STOP your destructive eating habits, then you’re caught in a helpless loop.
Many of my clients including myself during my 22 years oscillating between bulimia and anorexia, were trapped in “LEARNED HELPLESSNESS.”
Learned helplessness means that you basically just give up. You accept your situation as your life.
It’s the problem with MOST of my clients who first come to me. EVEN despite THINKING they wanted to RECOVER…
After speaking with them briefly at the beginning, I could sense EVEN before they started the prerequisite assessment with me, I knew they were too CONSUMED by the “KICK” that their BINGES gave them.
Resulting in RELUCTANCY to recover!
No different to ANY other addiction…
Even though they THOUGHT they wanted to END the destructive eating cycle, they had DOUBTS.
That’s because they were not aware of WHAT was keeping them in their ED.
What I mean is that their brains were literally just STUCK on a habit.
And all they could do was to try and keep their heads above water, LIVING moment to moment with the mental gymnastics they were trapped in.

Yessssss You Heard That Right!
Even though the ED was destroying any kind of life they had, when it came to the CRUNCH, I almost had to convince my clients why it worth ridding their ED for good!
A study conducted by a psychologist Richard Solomon, wrote that the body adjusts to all sorts of stimuli.
Just like taking drugs, alcohol or sex which makes us feel good straight away are very addictive…
Studies also found that we can also get addicted to things that DON’T start off “pleasurable,” but rather start off being painful BUT becomes ENJOYABLE… AND then addictive!!!
For example:
👉 Sunbathing
👉 Marathon running
👉 Parachute jumping
👉 EVEN being BEATEN UP!!!
👉 OR BINGEING until you are physically bursting, and PURGING until you feel physically drained!!!
Even though the activities start off causing discomfort and EVEN terror, continuous participation into the activity becomes ultimately ENJOYABLE and ADDICTIVE!
The repetitive involvement in such activities, physically CHANGES the signals in our brains, so eventually there is a sense of exhilaration from pushing our bodies through the limit.
It is at that point, just like being addicted to drugs, the mind starts CRAVING for the activity, EVEN if the activity is causing the individuals A. LOT. OF. PAIN.
Could it be that my clients were in fact ADDICTED to their eating disorders?
Probably the reason why it seemed IMPOSSIBLE for my clients to STOP or to want to stop as the high from the BINGE as well as the PURGE gave their minds a kind of endorphin rush similar to morphine like responses to stress!
However, using the techniques in my Rapid Recovery Subconscious Alignment which uses a combination of hypnotherapy, cognitive communication and various other tools, I was able to help my clients remove undesirable behaviours by breaking those CONNECTIONS in their brains, so that they were able to recover RAPIDLY.
