Words Are More Powerful Than You Think!

Tricking your mind AGAIN

The problem with will-power is that most often, the messages that we tell ourselves are totally WRONG!


For example, when we’re trying to abstain from something, we often take the angle as something labelled as “BAD” or something that would make us “FAT” or “UNHEALTHY” etc.

You’re probably thinking, well, what’s wrong with these messages?

Well, technically speaking, it DOES make sense!… BUT as I’ve mentioned before in my previous emails, our brains are DRIVEN to PLEASURE because of SURVIVAL instincts BUT has NO CLUE whether something is good, or bad, healthy or unhealthy!



Therefore, messages like these go on deaf ears since as soon as you’re faced with the opportunity like pizza, cake, ice-cream etc. your rational messages to yourself are being superseded by our POWERFUL brains taking over the steering wheel, as though screaming;

“woah woah woah…”
“HAPPY food!” 
“LOVE food!” 
“SAFETY food!” 
“SURVIVAL food!…” 
“Leave it to me, I’m gonna make you VERY VERY HAPPY!!!…”





And before you can even mumble your first mantra, “I SHOULDN’T eat it as I’m on a diet because I WANT to lose weight”… you find yourself in a half daze trying to figure out what had just happened?

A few crumbs and remnants of cream around your face… SHOCK! 

“I can’t believe I just did that!”😱



Then there’s the self talk, “I’ll be good again tomorrow etc. etc.”


While in the meantime, your brain’s doing the happy dance, AGAIN… as IT thinks it’s just made you HAPPY!!!🤦🏻‍♀️


CAKE = HAPPY = LOVE = SURVIVAL!

BUT something in that above equation didn’t necessarily resemble EXACTLY what that cake did for you! 

Though happiness did play a role, that happy feeling only usually lasts for ONLY those FEW minutes while you were consuming it, then maybe 10 minutes AT MOST afterwards. 





In all my life, I’m never glad I’ve eating junk food AFTER the event… and I’ve NEVER said after an hour or so, “I’m sooooo glad I ate that packet of crisps or piece of cake as it MAKES me feel GOOD now”😳




You see the PLEASURE of eating JUNK food never EVER lasts! 

 

So while you’re thinking that ONE DAY you may eventually convince your brain to LOSE WEIGHT or to LOVE healthy food, as long as you keep GIVING in to those cravings, your brain will continue to BELIEVE that these foods are a NECESSITY to your SURVIVAL🙄

You COULD have that pizza...

OUR BRAINS are hardwired to enjoy these types of foods from a baby? (Our mommy’s milk = creamy, fatty, sweet etc.) 

 

Then as we grew up, we hardwired these even more by rewarding EVERY single emotion with MORE creamy, fatty and sugary foods. 

 

Until eventually, we actually THINK JUNK food is a necessity to our happiness?

 

So JUNK food is now anchored to every single situation we face!

 

No wonder it’s so DIFFICULT to STOP eating these foods!

YOU DON’T STAND A CHANCE!!!

But the GOOD news is… 

You CAN REWIRE your brain!

CHANGE the messages YOU TELL YOURSELF!

 

Instead of the usual mantra, “It’s BAD, it’s UNHEALTHY, I don’t want to be FAT” etc. etc.

 

Try these self talk instead…

 

Maybe that cake looks pretty. And that pizza looks tasty. And maybe it’s ONLY A cookie.. 

 

AND I COULD have that cake, pizza or cookie… But NOT NOW, another time.” 

 

Because…

💗 I LOVE having a BEAUTIFUL SLIM body—MORE! 

💗 I LOVE fitting into my jeans—EVEN MORE!

💗 I LOVE being able to have MORE ENERGY to keep up with my kids—MORE!

💗 I LOVE looking the way I want in the mirror—MORE!!!

 

By REFRAMING your messages yourself, while at the same time IMAGINING what you’d be like without those unnecessary calories is MORE POWERFUL than just saying these foods are “bad, are “fattening”, are “not healthy” etc. etc.

 

 

Reframing your messages to yourself will force you to check which VALUES you care about—MORE!!!
